Access to Pelorus Private Island is via a 30 min helicopter journey from Townsville or a 90 min journey from Cairns over the picturesque coral-studded sea.

Helicopter Luggage Restrictions

Due to safety requirements and space restrictions on the helicopters, all passengers are restricted to maximum of 15kg baggage allowance in total per person. Your 15kgs includes all handbags, camera bags and luggage, with all baggage weighed at check in. Soft duffle or cabin bags are required as they are able to fit in the helicopter storage compartment (no hard base or suitcases please). Due to space limitations please do not bring one large bag between two guests.
In some instances, the pilot may ask you to re-pack into a supplied soft duffle bag if your luggage is too large. Rest assured, we can securely store any of your excess luggage or hard cases at our hangar for pick up on your return trip. To assist, Pelorus Private Island offers a complimentary laundry service for guests (dry cleaning is not available).
Please be advised that the carriage of excess baggage cannot be guaranteed due to aircraft availability and payload limitations. In special circumstances a private charter may be required at an additional cost. If you have any concerns regarding your baggage please contact us prior to your arrival so we can assist you.
Should a passenger’s body weight have a variance of more than 10% from their initial provided weight at time of booking, Nautilus Aviation Pty Ltd reserve the right to upgrade to a private helicopter charter if required, at an additional cost.
Your helicopter transfers will only be confirmed once your individual weights (kg) are provided. If guest weights are not supplied at time of transfer quote, an upgrade cost for a private charter or larger helicopter may apply.
All charter activity and helicopter transfer pricing is subject to change with 30 days’ notice. All times are indicative only and subject to change without notice.
Children under the age of 3 years fly free however this does not include any luggage allowance. Please enquire further about infant luggage allowances.

Morris Escapes, via the Morris Family Foundation, continue to invest in regenerating the Daintree Rainforest with our partner Rainforest Rescue. For a 30 minute helicopter flight, the equivalent of 3 trees will need to be planted to sequester the greenhouse gas emissions of the trip back into the natural system. We highly encourage our guests to invest $27 per trip, per person, which will be donated to Rainforest Rescue to undertake restoration of the Daintree Rainforest.
