MORRIS ESCAPES
A curated portfolio of boutique experiences designed to capture the adventurer in everyone. The collection was curated with the purpose of giving people the opportunity to disconnect from their busy lives, and reconnect with the natural environment. To take people back to basics and to remember the important things in life; family, friends, food and mother nature. With a focus on minimising our environmental impact and inspiring our guests to take our ethos home with them.
With three boutique lodges located amongst Queensland’s iconic reef, outback and hinterland, each exclusive by its remoteness and limited number of guests, travellers will revel in an unforgettable lifetime experience every time. Our private helicopter charter service provides unrivalled access to each magnificent landscape, and a fleet of outstanding superyachts offers privately chartered Great Barrier Reef exploration. A Northern Escape is waiting…

OUR SUSTAINABLE PHILOSOPHY
— achieving a better and more sustainable future for all —
At Pelorus Private Island, we are passionate about reducing our impact on the environment and making a positive one on the community. We believe that turning a profit and supporting these two areas can go hand-in-hand. Sustainability lies at the core of who we are as a business and we focus our efforts on achieving a better and more sustainable future for all. Across our collection of properties, we are continuously expanding our efforts to tackle key sustainability issues by focusing on the areas where we think we can have the most impact.
Pelorus Island’s gentle environmental footprint is a shining example of this philosophy. In addition to its luxurious features, Pelorus Private Island is committed to timeless design and sustainability. The residence is fully powered by solar panels and batteries, ensuring a self-sustainable energy supply. Natural materials and ventilation systems are incorporated into the design, minimising the hideaway’s environmental impact.
Reef Keepers Fund
— preserving natural beauty —
At Pelorus Private Island, we are passionate about preserving the natural beauty of Queensland where our collection of properties are located.
Reef Keepers Fund is an environmental fund created by Pelorus Private Island’s owners, Morris Group, to support projects and organisations that are committed to protecting the Great Barrier Reef. $100 per guest stay is donated toward environmental projects aimed at protecting and preserving the world’s largest coral reef ecosystem.
The donations will be granted to different organisations working on projects that protect our reef. If you feel inspired to contribute, you are welcome to match or add your desired amount to your final bill.
Each year the Reef Keepers Fund supports projects that have helped build research, awareness, and education surrounding reef sustainability, and has helped combat issues like climate change, water pollution, crown-of-thorns outbreaks, clearing of forests, and plastic pollution.
In the past year, Reef Keepers Fund donated $472k to key projects:
- The Next Economy – working with communities in regional Queensland to imagine a future that works for both people and planet.
- Solar Citizens – helping to promote the economic and jobs benefits in Queensland of renewable energy projects.
- Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC) – Townsville Schools Program empowering youth to lead on climate action
- Tangaroa Blue – beach clean-ups at and around Orpheus Island and helicopter survey of marine debris on beaches.
- Rainforest Rescue – the restoration of old cane farming land to the biodiverse rainforest in the Daintree Rainforest.
- James Cook University – funding four Ph.D. scholarships to continue their research at Orpheus Island Research Station.
- Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) – to advocate to the federal government to ensure the ocean is properly protected in the Australia’s environmental laws.
- Ocean Impact Organisation – to support their social enterprise incubator program.
- Climate Council QLD – changing the conversation in Queensland around climate change through their climate media centre.
